This project proposes an urban sawmill in Sunset Park that responds to NYC’s unmet need for a primary milling and processing facility. Drawing from the city’s inventory of urban trees and its dense network of local businesses, the mill transforms salvaged urban timber into high-value veneer products, extending the material life of trees that would otherwise be down-cycled or discarded.
